Here are a few of the classes we offer:

The Dining Experience/ Dining Etiquette ~

In this class, students will learn the art of dining. The class starts off with students learning dining etiquette that would include where the napkin goes and what it means to the wait staff, what placement of utensils on the plate indicate to the wait staff, serving and buttering bread, etc. Participates learn the correct placement of utensils, plates, glasses and napkin and be able to set a table for Basic, Informal and Formal meals. As with every class, it is expressed that learning all the specifics is important but never as valuable as learning how to respect the person you are next to with your body language, kind words, and polite mannerisms.

The class can be taught at either a location of your choice (with no food served), a location of your choice where parents bring the main dish, side dish, salad and dessert or the class can be taught at a restaurant where we would have a private room and the students would then order a meal to enjoy practicing what they learned.

 

The Greeting and Introduction ~

In this class, students will learn the difference between a formal and an informal greeting then when to use each. They will learn how to greet one another, how to introduce themselves, have good eye contact and the importance of using a strong and clear voice. Students participate in a group activity where everyone has the opportunity to practice greeting and introducing themselves until they feel comfortable. The class can be taught at a location of your choice.

 

Tea-Time Etiquette Dining ~

In this experience, students will learn the proper way to enjoy tea and the foods that accompany it. We offer the experience for ladies, boys and girls, all girls or where mothers and daughters can dine together for a wonderful memory-making experience while learning all the etiquette dos and don'ts of tea-time. Parents have the choice to have the class at a tea room or a location of your choice.

 

Conversation Skills ~

In this class, participates will learn how to initiate a conversation with new people in a casual, formal or professional setting. We will cover how to make a conversation more meaningful, how to express respect through body language (which is 93% of communication), and then learn the most valuable skill in holding a conversation. Participates go through exercises where each will initiate a conversation in a comfortable relaxed environment. There are activities to help everyone enjoy and accomplish this.

 

Advanced Communication Skills ~

This class teaches how to identify each of the four Personality Types and how to communicate in a way that honors each personality. This information is very effective in taking conversation to the next level. It is beneficial for interviewing skills, creating friendships, creating new clients, in addition to developing harmony in the household. Extremely helpful for all ages. In addition, this class is requested at marriage conferences and family bonding activities.

 

 

First Impressions~

You don't get a second chance to make a first impression. A good first impression is essential if you want to meet a new friend, create new clients or land a job. Substantial research has affirmed the importance of first impressions. In this class, participants will learn how to give a proper handshake, introduce themselves, dress professionally, and walk and stand with confidence. Attendees will practice creating a great first impression.

 

Job Interview Skills ~

This class will teach students how to project themselves professionally. Topics taught include: Making a successful first impression, professional attire, an effective interview, soft skills, insiders tips from local human resource department heads and the best kept secret on getting employed to name a few.

 

Introduction to Ballroom Dancing ~

Students will be introduced to the beginning-level steps of ballroom dancing, proper holds for each dance, characteristics and history of each dance, timing and so forth. By the end of the class, participates will be able to comfortably dance the beginning level of ballroom, latin and swing dances. Parents can choose as many or as few dances that they want their children to learn. Dances include: Fox Trot, Waltz, Rumba, Tango, Cha Cha, Salsa, Merengue and East Coast Swing. Taught at Spoga's in Hammond or location of your choice.
